Adios to the School Year
Jumping May 6th and 7th
See you guys again in August!
Up and Running Again!
We can plan on jumps as soon as we get back - August 13th and 14th sounds good to me!
News
August 2010
The jumping is good and it's starting up again! Stay tuned for more information on when the next club orientation day is going to be. We'll be having a whole bunch of guys coming out to make their first jumps, and a bunch of experienced jumpers come out for some formations!
Who knows, maybe it'll be like those awesome "Opelika 8-ways" we're so good at!
End of School Year 2010
Well, we've finished the school year with no incidents and plenty of people coming out for their first jumps!
Hopefully we'll see you again once the school year rolls around in August.
Please remember that the dropzone IS open during the summer, we're just not doing any crazy scheduled events.
Have fun and blue skies!
December 2009 and January 2010
In case you haven't heard, all of the accident reports from last year have allowed us to confirm that skydiving has become even safer. We had the lowest number of incidents since 1961, even though we accomplished over 400,000 skydives more this year. This is just showing how many improvements and advancements in the world of skydiving are taking place!
December and January got a little cold, so there wasn't TOO much skydiving going on. February looks promising, though!
November 7th and 8th
One BUSY dropzone on the 7th! Due to the Auburn football game, we had no official event on the 7th. However, about 20 people showed up to jump anyway!
The 8th was much more relaxed with experienced jumpers being the only ones who showed up to have fun. We got some great work done on freeflying! Hopefully we'll be working more on some RW as well to eventually get a collegiate team.
Pictures eventually, videos on facebook, hopefully we'll have all of that posted up on this website soon.
October 31st and November 1st
Bad weather on the 31st, but the 1st was amazing!
Sunset now appears earlier, but that just makes the photo opportunities better.
Speaking of pictures, we'll upload them eventually...
October 24th and 25th
Great night jumps on the 24th despite the spotty weather during the day!
Something happened in the Heavens and the sky cleared up wonderfully around 5PM.
No pictures due to a lack of nightvision cameras, but YOU SHOULDA BEEN THERE!
October 17th and 18th
Planes are up and running again!
Not many jumps on Saturday due to bad weather, but Sunday lasted from 0900 until sunset!
A total of NINE tandems happened in one day!
Great up-jumps too with good accuracy jumps.
The winds were kicking at about 15 knots when they were at their highest
This made the whole day awesome for flying good approaches
Also, the website has been updated with a technologically advanced photos section!
Here are the photos from this week!
October 10th and 11th
Both planes were down for maintenance. I will send out an email when the planes are back up and running.
October 3rd and 4th

Probably the best weekend we've ever had at the dropzone.
SIX first jump students (plus two tandems.)
Heather Edell, Julie Baker, and Shernovius Bennett- welcome to the world of skydiving!
These guys are workings towards joining the Auburn Skydiving club with us
Pictures are here!Nick Marcantonio - congratulations on jump 100!
Pictures of the shaving cream pie available in the Recent Pictures section
Amazing weather, great company, and awesome RW this weekend!
If you weren't there, then you SERIOUSLY missed out! I'm hoping to see more of you guys showing up together. Then we can start planning some jumps in larger groups! DON'T FORGET ABOUT NIGHT JUMPS! Sign up on the board in the office! Daniel needs to know how many to cook for, since he's certainly too scared to jump.
Ryan only wishes he could hang like this!September 26th and 27th
Not-so-great weather on Saturday?
Well, it wasn't too bad at Skydive Opelika!
We still made 7 or 8 loads in the day including 2 tandems and 2 first jump courses!
Welcome to the new Auburn Skydiver - Drew Steverson!
Sunday was beautiful and full of jumping from morning to late afternoon.
Two tandems and two first jump students, as well as two refresher courses for previous jumpers!
Looks like we're adding to the family still!
Great jumps and great people, as always.
Oh, I got some videos back from Scott. I did a TON of editing and came up with the promo video on the homepage of the website. If you want some raw footage, let me know and I'll send you the files. There's some amazing videography in here!
I'd like feedback, if you can, on the promo video. Let me know how it can be improved! Anything as minor as a timing issue to as major as adding or removing video clips.
September 19th and 20th
Horrible weather; no jumping.

September 12th and 13th
Not so great weather this weekend, so we only had a few low jumps. Junior (our lineman) made his second static line jump, and some others are getting through the program.
A total of four loads went up on Saturday. Great jumps, but bad weather.
The initiation day was cancelled due to this weather.
Only one jump happened on the 13th due to a lack of jumpers. A bad weather forecast stopped a lot of people from coming out, but we had some blue in the sky.
Apparently some were still recovering from the football game. Next week promises to be better.
September 5th and 6th
September 5th, for some reason, NO one showed up.
Oh wait, that might have been caused by the football game. The team did well.
September 6th, I was at Skydive Deland (where tandem parachuting and AFF were invented.) It's near Daytona Beach.
However, we had EIGHT tandems!
I was told that everything went very well.
Happy Birthday to Kelly Cavallaro
We hope to see you guys back for a first jump course!
